Description
Prunus padus 'Le Thoureil' is a particularly splendid variety of our native Bird Cherry tree. Racemes of almond-scented small white flowers sit against a backdrop of green foliage and are an attractive source of nectar for pollinators. An additional bonus for wildlife are the reams of glossy black, pea-shaped fruits which are loved by feeding birds.
Later in the year, the leaves of Prunus padus 'Le Thoureil' transform into tones of golden bronze and yellow for a stunning autumn display. This lovely deciduous tree prefers a sunny, sheltered site and is a great choice for a cottage or wildlife garden. In 20 years it reaches an approximate height and spread of 4 x 3 metres.
