Description

Evocative of the Tuscan countryside yet full hardy in the UK to -20C, Italian Cypress instantly elevate any outdoor space. These narrow, columnar evergreen trees create a striking architectural statement, with upright branches that maintain the iconic pencil-thin form throughout their lives

Commonly known as Tuscan or Italian Cypress, Cupressus sempervirens 'Pyramidalis’ thrive in full sun, as you would expect from a tree with Italian origins! It is drought tolerant once established, but will need plenty of water until then. Whilst they can grow to a stately 15 metres in height, they are easily kept trimmed to the desired height, even as low as 1.5 metres.

'Pyramidalis' conifers look great all year round making them ideal for a variety of settings; plant in pairs to frame an entrance, line them along pathways for a formal look, use one as a striking focal point. They can even be grown in large containers for a touch of classic Mediterranean style on patios and terraces.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
