Unfortunately, we are not able to make delivery of live plants to Northern Ireland or any countries outside of the UK.

🕐 Delivery Times

Please check the delivery message on the product page for the specific timeframe for each item. You’ll also see this information in your basket and at checkout before placing your order.

Orders are typically despatched once all the trees and plants in the order are ready. This helps us reduce our carbon footprint, but if the dates are too far apart and you wish to split your delivery, please contact us at customercare@ornamental-trees.co.uk and we will do our best to schedule separate deliveries.

Standard Delivery

Many orders are despatched within 7 days, while others have longer lead times due to the wide range of trees and plants we offer.

Mature & Specialist Trees

Mature, larger and specialist trees often take 2-4 weeks as they may require additional care and specialist delivery that is grouped geographically. Any customers ordering mature or specialist trees will be contacted and notified of their delivery date

If your trees are required by a specific date, please let us know as soon as possible; we will do our best to accommodate you but don’t offer guarantees. You can leave instructions in the notes field a Checkout or send us an email at customercare@ornamental-trees.co.uk.

Pre-Orders

Pre-order trees and plants are despatched when they are ready and conditions are right for planting. Estimated dates may vary depending on the season, growing conditions and species.

If there is a significant change to the expected despatch date, we’ll contact you by email.

📦 Preparing Your Trees & Plants For Delivery

Every tree and plant is individually cared for by our expert nursery team. Before despatch, we quality-check, water, prepare and carefully package each plant on site. We never send out a tree we’re not completely happy with.

Smaller trees and plants are packaged in sturdy recycled cardboard boxes or netting and sent on a 24 hour service by specialist courier to minimise time in transit.  You’ll receive a tracking link from the courier once the plants are on their way.

Larger shrubs or multiple items may be sent on a carefully wrapped pallet. This provides extra protection, helps keep delivery costs down and reduces our carbon footprint. There’s no need to return the pallet.

Mature, pleached and specialist trees are delivered by our own delivery team without the need for packaging

When your tree arrives, unpack it carefully and water it well. We recommend planting as soon as possible. If you can’t plant it straight away, keep it well watered in a sheltered, safe location until you’re ready.

🚗 Collections

Collections are by appointment only at our West Yorkshire-based nursery. If you would like to place an order for collection, please get in touch before placing your order. You will not be charged a delivery cost for a collection and any delivery cost that has been applied will be refunded.

🌳 12 Month Guarantee

All our trees, shrubs and hedging are carefully selected, quality-checked, watered and prepared by our expert nursery team before leaving us. We only send plants we’re happy to put in our own gardens.

We’re confident that with the right planting and care, your tree should grow and flourish for years to come. However, we understand that sometimes a plant can fail through no fault of your own. That’s why we offer a 12-month guarantee on pot-grown plants.

If a potted plant fails within 12 months due to a genuine plant-related issue, we’ll assess the cause and, where the guarantee applies, put things right. Our planting and care guidelines must be followed, including any specific instructions for individual plants. These can be found on each product page. We may request photographs or other information to assess a claim.

The following exclusions apply:

  • Clearance and end-of-season sale items
  • Bareroot plants
  • Bulbs and tubers
  • Consumables
  • Failure or damage caused by inadequate care
  • Failure or damage caused by adverse weather or circumstances beyond our reasonable control

Planting Guidelines

Preparation

  • Pot-grown plants can be planted at any time of year, whereas bare roots need to be planted between November and March.
  • Dig a hole as deep as the root mass and twice as wide
  • To help your plant establish more effectively, sprinkle Rootgrow in the hole and on the roots.

Planting

  • Gently loosen the roots and place into the planting hole.
  • Ensure the top of the plant's compost is flush with the level of the surrounding soil and the graft union or collar of the tree is above ground level
  • Mix 50% of the original soil with 50% compost.
  • Fill in the hole, firming the soil gently.

Last Steps

  • Water generously around the base of the plant.
  • If you are planting either a single stem tree or mature standard tree, we recommend adding a staking kit and rabbit guard.

Damaged in Transit

From time to time our trees may get damaged in transit. If this does happen, please contact our customer service team so we can resolve the issue for you.
