Description

'King James I'' mulberries are large and succulent with a very rich, intense flavour. Cropping in August, the fruit can be eaten straight off the tree or used in cooking. The tree has the benefit of cropping well on relatively young trees. An attractive rounded tree, it has heart shaped leaves that turn yellow in autumn and gnarled bark.

Morus nigra King James I grows and fruits best in full sun. This award-winning variety originated from the Chelsea Physic Garden in the 16th century. Highly recommended!

Planting Steps

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
