Description

Buddleja Davidii 'Ile de France' is a deciduous shrub with a bushy habit. It produces beautiful, deep purple flowers with an orange-yellow centre. The small flowers grow on long racemes which put on an incredible display throughout summer and autumn. Known as the butterfly bush, 'Ile De France' is an excellent addition to a wildlife garden. Its nectar-rich flowers are complemented by lovely, mid-green lance shaped leaves.

This shrub is easy to grow and hardy. It will thrive in full sun or partial shade in an exposed or sheltered environment. It will grow in moist but well-drained soils and has an approximate height and spread of 4 meters in 20 years.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
