Description

The award-winning Buddleja ‘Black Knight’ is one of the most popular butterfly bushes, producing fragrant summer flowers in a gorgeous shade of deep purple in long, outstretched panicles. These blooms are accompanied by grey-green, lance-shaped foliage. As its nickname suggests, this easy-to-grow, low-maintenance shrub is much loved by butterflies, and a great option for bringing more pollinators into the garden.

A full sun position is preferred, though Buddleja ‘Black Knight’ will tolerate some partial shade as well. Drought-tolerant once established, in 20 years you can expect an approx. height and spread of 5 x 3 metres.

AKA Buddleia davidii ‘Black Knight’, ‘Black Knight’ Butterfly Bush

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
