Description

Toona sinensis 'Flamingo' is a stunning rare tree named after the beautiful pink colour of its young spring foliage. Also known as Chinese Cedar or Chinese Mahogny, this beautiful tree's leaves emerge a bright flamingo-pink, later paling to cream and then finally taking on a lush green colour in summer. Clusters of white flowers can also accompany the leaves in summertime.

A full sun, sheltered position is best for Toona sinensis 'Flamingo' as well as a moist, well-draining soil. Please note this variety is susceptible to spring frost so in cold weather may need protecting. You can expect an approx. height and spread of 6 x 4 metres in 10 years.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
