A very beautiful rounded tree with dark-green heart shaped foliage that turns to buttery yellow in the autumn. Small, highly fragrant ivory coloured flowers are borne in July and are a favourite of bees. The leaves also support a plethora of beneficial insects and in turn, birds.

This large native tree will grow to 10 x 6 meters in 20 years and is suited to an exposed position. Ideal for avenues or as a single specimen the small leaved lime tree will grow well in any moist but well-drained soil in full or partial sun.

AKA Small-leaved Lime tree, Littleleaf Linden

Planting Steps

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
