Description
Prunus serrula 'Choshu-Hizakura' is a rare variety of Japanese Flowering Cherry tree, growing gorgeous soft pink double flowers. Appearing in spring, around April time, the flowers typically stick around for longer than other Flowering Cherry tree varieties. Young, bronzed foliage turns green in summer followed by bright shades of red and orange in autumn. As Hisakura Cherry matures it will form a magnificent shape, with a broad but dense canopy making it an ideal feature tree for a medium to large garden.
Like all Japanese Cherry Blossom trees, Prunus 'Hisakura' prefers a full sun position for the best blooms as well as a moist, well-drained soil. Expect an approximate height and spread of 7 x 7 metres in 20 years.
