Description

Malus 'Pink Perfection' is a small, upright, deciduous tree. The flowers are an impressive feature, opening from bright pink buds into semi-double flowers with a delicate balance of white and pretty pink tones. Following the blooming of its scented flowers, it produces small red fruits, making it an ideal choice for those looking to create a wildlife haven for birds in their garden.

'Pink Perfection' will thrive in full sun, whether in a sheltered or exposed position. Despite its delicate flowers, this shrub is hardy, with an H6 rating, and can survive temperatures as low as -20°C. Best planted in moderately fertile soil. Approximate height and spread is 8x8 meters.

Aftercare Advice

Crab Apple trees require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.

You can harvest culinary Crab Apples in early autumn or leave them for birds to enjoy. The trees should be pruned in winter but do not require hard pruning. Avoid trimming the tips of branches. Simply remove any dead or damaged branches and shoots at the base of the tree i.e. suckers and water sprouts.
