Description

Gaultheria Bells Seedling, also commonly known as prickly heath 'Bell's Seedling', is a small evergreen shrub with a suckering habit, typically growing to a mature height and spread of 1.5m. It features dark green, sharply tipped leaves, offering a unique texture that pairs beautifully with clusters of small white flowers appearing from late spring to early summer. In autumn, small dark crimson fruits up to 1cm wide add additional seasonal charm. Thriving in moist but well-drained soils, this shrub prefers full shade to partial sun, making it a lovely choice for adding colour and texture to shaded garden areas.

AKA Gaultheria mucronata 'Bell's Seedling', Pernettya mucronata 'Bell's Seedling', prickly heath 'Bell's Seedling'

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
