Description

Chaenomeles speciosa 'Mango Storm' is a deciduous and compact Japanese Quince shrub. Mango Storm is abundant with stunning, large orange flowers which are complemented by dark, glossy green leaves. This shrub blooms in early spring and then again in summer, and is followed by aromatic green-yellow fruits which are attractive to birds. The sweet and floral scented fruit is also edible to humans, and can be used for making jams and jellies. In Japan, the fruits are even used to make liquor.

'Mango Storm' thrives in full sun or partial shade, in an exposed or sheltered environment. It prefers moist but well-drained soils and has an ultimate height and spread of 1.5 meters.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
