Description

Cercis canadensis, commonly known as the eastern redbud, is a stunning medium-sized tree that features vibrant pink flowers on bare branches. These blossoms grow in dense clusters, creating a spectacular display. The tree also produces charming heart-shaped leaves that start with a bronze hue when young, eventually turning a brilliant golden yellow in the autumn.

Cercis Canadensis will thrive in full sun or partial shade in a sheltered position. It prefers moist but well drained soils and has an ultimate height and spread of approximately 8x4 meters.

Planting Steps

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
