Win A Mini Orchard For Your Primary School

Win a mini orchard for your primary school!Growing fruit trees is a great way to promote healthy eating and an understanding of where our food comes from. We think it’s important for children to learn about trees, how they grow and their environmental benefits; so we are running a competition in which 3 primary schools can win a mini orchard of 5 fruit trees. We’re asking for primary school children to send us a fruit tree poem. This poem can be about anything related to fruit trees, for example, a favourite fruit tree, an imaginary fruit tree, why we should grow fruit trees, the creepy crawlies that live in fruit trees etc. The competition will be judged by a primary school teacher and our managing director. Why not get a whole class to enter!?Follow the steps below to enter;Step 1) Check with your primary school to ensure they have the facilities to plant a mini orchard. Each dwarf tree will require approximately 4 square metres of space if planted in the ground. These fruit trees can also be planted into pots with a minimum of 40 litres capacity.Step 2) Send us your fruit tree poem (which should be the pupils own work), before November 5th to Ornamental Tree Nurseries Ltd, Cobnash, Kingsland, Herefordshire. HR6 9QZMake sure to include the childs name, age, the school name and school address. If your poem makes our shortlist we’ll let you know with a congratulatory certificate! The top 3 entries will be informed by November 15th, by entering the competition you give permission for the winning poems to be posted on our website and mentioned in our local press. The trees supplied, 3 apples and 2 pears, will be one year old, 60-90cm tall and in 5 litre pots.
