Description

Meech's Prolific Quince is a self-fertile variety that produces reliably generous fruit crops. The large, yellow quince have a strong, sweet scent and are ideal for making Quince cheese and other preserves. Ready for picking around the first half of October, they can be stored for up to 3 months.

Large pink flushed flowers in spring add ornamental value to this tree. Meech's Prolific is suitable for the UK (except places with the harshest winters), but all Quince trees prefer a sunny, sheltered position.

Cydonia oblonga Meech's Prolific originates from Connecticut, US, 1880.

Planting Steps

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
