Description

Medana is a superb variety of Tayberry—a blackberry/raspberry hybrid—raised in Scotland, with sweet and juicy fruits that are ready for picking from around July and August. They are larger, heavier and more conical in shape than raspberries with a deep red/purple colour. Medana Tayberries can be eaten fresh or cooked into jams and other sweet treats. They are also known for freezing well.

Like blackberries, tayberry bushes are best grown when supported on wires. Tayberry Medana will reach an approx. height and spread of 2 x 2 metres.

AKA Rubus fruticosus x idaeus Medana

Planting Steps

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
