Description

Euonymus alatus is a spectacular shrub in autumn when the leaves turn a rich red and colourful seed pods split open. Branches develop interesting corky wings that provide interest when the leaves have fallen and led to the common name of Winged Spindle.

Preferring reasonably well-draining soil, Euonymus alatus is a tough shrub that can cope with wind exposure.

Planting Steps

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
