Wisteria floribunda 'Alba' Tree

White Climbing Wisteria Trees

from From £49.99 (ex. VAT)
( £59.99 (ex. VAT) inc. VAT)

A wonderful white flowering Wisteria, with the slightest suggestion of lilac on each flower - a really beautiful alternative to the usual blue/violet/purple hues. The summer flower racemes are long - up to 2ft (60cm). This is a less vigorous variety than most. A twining shrub with bright green foliage that emerges bronzed in spring and turns yellow in the autumn.

This climbing shrub will grow to 7 x 4 meters in 20 years and is ideal for growing over a pergola or against a sunny wall. but will equally do very well romping up the trunk of a tree to seek out the sunshine.  White Wisteria is suited to any free draining soil and full or partial sun is ideal but shade will be tolerated. Wisteria Alba is a lovely, climbing plant that is popular with wildlife.

All our Wisteria are grafted (rather than cuttings) so ought to flower earlier.

Delivery Timescales

All trees are carefully packed by our experienced team. Most deliveries are made within a week of placing the order, with many being despatched to our tried and tested couriers within 24 hours. Planting Advice for Wisteria Floribunda Alba trees

When planting pink Wisteria trees, such as Wisteria Floribunda Alba, it is important to prepare the planting area well. Pot grown Wisteria trees can be planted at any time of the year. You will need to carry out the following to prepare your planting site.

Firstly, remove all weeds and grass within a metre of your desired planting hole then dig a hole as deep as your root mass and approximately 2-3x as wide. We recommend digging a square hole as this encourages the roots to grow straight as opposed to around inside the hole. To help your tree establish more effectively, we advise applying root grow (sprinkle in the hole for pot grown trees), especially if you have poor soil. Gently loosen the roots and place into the planting hole.

Using 50% of the original soil and 50% compost, fill in the hole and firm around gently. Make sure not to bank the soil up around the collar of the tree as this can cause problems. To see how to use a tree stake and tie, watch our informational how to videos.

Aftercare Advice for White Wisteria Shrubs

If you’re planting in dry weather, water well and regularly for the first few months. The same goes for spring and summer planting. Make sure to keep an eye on your young tree and increase watering if there are extended periods of hot or dry weather. If you’re planting in autumn, you may only need to water your tree a little. We also stock a range of irrigation kits, suitable for a variety of planting schemes.

Once planted, it is important to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass for the first couple of growing seasons. Using a glyphosate based weed killer or installing mulch matting and bark chips will aid in this. Do not simply mow the grass around the area as this will only encourage it to grow more vigorously. If you know your area is prone to rabbits, we would advise using a rabbit guard.

Pruning Advice for Japanese Wisteria shrubs

Wisteria plants have a reputation for being high maintenance when it comes to pruning, but this is not the case! When pruned at the correct times, Wisteria is easy to control and a pleasure for everybody.

Wisteria shrubs need to be pruned twice a year. In July or August and then again in January or February. In summer, after flowering, prune the green, whippy shoots from the previous year’s growth. This encourages flower production and helps to control the overall size.

In January, remove up to half of the previous year’s growth, leaving just a few buds on each stem.
