Description

Pittosporum tenuifolium 'Emerald Dome' is a compact, evergreen shrub that typically grows to an approximate height and spread of around 1.5 metres. This flowering tawhiwhi features small, glossy green leaves with slightly wavy edges, set against dark, almost black stems, which provide a striking contrast. In late spring to eary summer, it produces small, fragrant flowers that are usually dark purple to nearly black.

The Emerald Dome also known as 'Minpitto' thrives in well-drained soils and prefers a position in full sun to partial shade. It is low-maintenance and versatile, making it ideal for small gardens, containers, low hedges, or as a neat specimen in mixed borders. Its compact size and attractive foliage make it perfect for adding structure and texture to a variety of garden settings.

Aftercare Advice

Trees and shrubs require a good watering regime for a couple of years whilst they establish. Water well and regularly through spring and summer, increasing in hot or dry weather. If planting in autumn, you may only need to water a little. It is advisable to keep the area free of competing weeds and grass during this period.
