Hoheria sexstylosa 'Snow White' Tree

Lacebark Trees

from From £49.99 (ex. VAT)
( £59.99 (ex. VAT) inc. VAT)

Hoheria sexstylosa 'Snow White' is an evergreen tree that produces numerous pretty white flowers in early summer, making it a great choice for both summer and winter interest. The flowers are similar in appearance to those of Cherry blossom trees. The leaves are deeply serrated with a tooth like appearance around their perimeter.

The tree forms a pyramidal shape but can be turned into a hedge with pruning. It grows up to 4 metres tall in 20 years, but again it can be pruned to keep it smaller if desired.

It will cope with any type of soil if it is well drained. In colder areas it is advisable to plant it in a sheltered spot away from cold winds.

Delivery Timescales

All trees are carefully packed by our experienced team. Most deliveries are made within a week of placing the order, with many being despatched to our tried and tested couriers within 24 hours. To be on the safe side allow up to 10 working days for despatch. These trees are sent on a 'no signature required' basis, so there's no need to be in to receive your delivery. You can give instructions on where to leave it via the checkout or send us an email (sales@ornamental-trees.co.uk).

There is a slightly longer timescale on pleached and mature trees (trees over 2.5m in height) because we group orders together by geographic area for specialist delivery - we will contact these customers to notify them of the delivery date and whether the delivery driver needs help unloading the trees.

Gift trees and other trees required for arrival on a specific date can be accommodated with pleasure at no extra charge, although we accept no legal responsibility for late deliveries.

Our nursery is a busy despatch centre and therefore customers need to make an appointment to collect or view trees.  For collections, despatch charges will be refunded.

Planting Advice for Hoheria Trees

Pot grown Hoheria can be planted at any time of the year. When planting, it is important to prepare the planting area well. Firstly, remove all weeds and grass within a metre of your desired planting hole.

Dig a hole as deep as your root mass and approximately 2x as wide. We recommend digging a square hole to encourages the roots to grow straight as opposed to circling around. To help your plant establish more effectively, we advise applying root grow (sprinkle in the hole for pot grown trees), especially if you have poor soil.

Using 50% of the original soil and 50% compost, fill in the hole and firm around gently. Make sure not to bank the soil up around the collar of the tree as this can cause problems.

Watering & Aftercare Advice for Hoheria Trees

If you’re planting in spring or summer, water well and regularly for the first few months. If you’re planting in autumn, you may only need to water your tree a little. Make sure to keep an eye on your young plant and increase watering if there are extended periods of hot or dry weather. We also stock a range of irrigation kits, suitable for a variety of planting schemes.

Keep the area free of competing weeds and grass for the first couple of growing seasons. Using a glyphosate based weed killer or installing mulch matting and bark chips will aid in this. Do not simply mow the grass around the area as this will only encourage it to grow more vigorously.

Pruning Advice for Hoheria Trees

Hoheria do not often require pruning, but if you do prune them then it is recommended to carry it out in Spring or after flowering.
